2D Images

Working with scenery and what different objects can to do the space and the object - or animal- can do. Placing this tiger in the waves makes it seem like this tiger is somehow aquatic in nature as it looks like it is diving into the waves like a fish or dolphin.

I added quite a lot of cows to show a greater depth of field. The tree throws this off, but I enjoyed the size. I learned the color range tool for selection purposes and applied the clone tool as well.

Using the pattern fill layers and particular selection we now have a Brad Pitt house.

We learned about adjusting shadows to an image and changing the opacity of the certain objects. Inverse selection for things on white backgrounds.

We used the magic erase tool to keep specific details in the hair on Megan Fox.

We adjusted the hue and saturation with selections and color range tool to edit it. I was thinking about sherbet with cotton candy.

Practice with different layer adjustments, overlay, and using the paint brush. Matt Damon got the Marilyn Monroe treatment.

We used the history and art history brush to try out the painting techniques. Adele looks good even with giant splotches of color for hair.

Using different filters and the art history brush, we went over how to combine specific effects to create a final image.

Using the polygon selection tool, we made a mask over the bathroom mirror and changed the perspective to make it look like the ring.

Another demo with the mask tool, this time with additional selection area.

Using the pen tool, we applied our knowledge of masking to round objects.

Using the masking tool with particular selections, I changed the shop's windows to be colored like the afternoon sky.

More masking practice - using curved selections with the pen tool. I like paisley.

Using the text masking tool we created words inside the background image to make it seem like the words are coming out of the ground or are carved in. The fish are all gone.

We used quite a few of the filter rendering tools - lens flare, frame, clouds, fire. We also tweaked the curve levels of the photo.

We used the 3D workspace to create a 3D cube on a background. I made mine to look very natural through textures.

Adding more cubes to give my pictures depth.

More rendering with textured middles to look more 3D and accurate.

Brad Pitt bottle with different textures.

Creating an inter-tube through the donut shape in 3D, I applied a texture I enjoy.

Using the text tool we used it to make a 3D word block that has dimension.

This repetition piece stands to highlight the idea that the Meijer Gardens center is a rather different space. It isn't a park, but it isn't an art gallery either - it's somewhere in the middle. I want to investigate nature as being art and how they can form their exhibits to be both natural and constructed. The repetition brings forward the idea of man-made or altered while the cacti and rocks are the natural aspects.

In the Meijer Gardens, it boasts the idea of botanical gardens of lush plants - but can that idea be stretched? If the plants they harbor don't look a certain way, are they still considered gardens? I wanted to put non-flowering cacti in places of large rocks in a zen garden to demonstrate the potential idea of what these interesting plants could do to the space. Does it still work?

The picture rather speaks for itself - I wanted to question the price tag that comes with a ticket into this space. At an astounding 14.50 per entry for an adult ticket, the price is slightly higher than the average movie. But what exactly are you buying when you step through those doors? Are you buying the right to view art? Are you purchasing a glimpse at nature? What is it that this establishment offers that not only attracts guests, but keeps them coming back? What are we buying.
